Cheating democracy with big money, sadly, is today’s norm.
I feel that paid political advertising weakens democracy so I have made up my mind that I have to drive that point home by winning an election without using paid political advertising.
By innovating and changing the way the game is played we can demonstrate that people have power over big money. Enough of lawyer politicians trying to make the perfect rules to protect democracy, we can voluntarily do better than what is required by law. Aside from all the other important planks in Breezy’s Platform, for this time when we are being forced to change, demonstrating election victory by relying only on volunteer people power is the most important thing we can do on October 18, 2021.

Almost everyone recognizes that we have a big problem with big money influencing elections. Big money is being used to buy advertising to influence and manipulate people’s political choices.
Politicians buy ads everywhere often telling slightly different stories to different communities. They buy ads in ethnic newspapers, on radio and T.V. and now of course on internet platforms that serve ads. (Facebook, Linkedin, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
The problem that weakens democracy is that the stories presented in political ads are the stories wealthier people and their organizations like to tell. We do not hear the voice of the poor, the working class or even the middle class very much.
It is the intention of democracy to work based on one person one vote. Now media ads take away that level playing field. Winning becomes a matter of raising maximum funds to buy maximum opportunity to influence and manipulate the voters’ choices.
There are times when being different is good. It is important now more than ever to be different. It is different to run for office and refuse to accept monetary donations.
